food

Enjoy delicious home cooking, freshly baked cakes, and seasonal produce. Where possible, we use organic and / or locally sourced meat and dairy produce* and, in summer, the vegetables are increasingly from our own garden. We also do our best to support artisan producers locally and in the surrounding area.

Laid back breakfast

Take your time over a leisurely breakfast, available until 10am (9.30am in winter). The tasty breakfast buffet includes a choice of tea, coffee, herbal tea or hot chocolate; fresh fruit and bread; organic fruit juice, yogurt and muesli; and a daily changing special, including a cooked-to-order hot special 5 days a week. One day it might be fried eggs or French toast, another, porridge or scotch pancakes with wild blueberries and crème fraiche.

Breakfast is included.

Picnic lunches (summer only)

If you’re going off on a long walk or exploring the local area, take one of our ready-packed picnic hampers or rucksacks with you. They include a fresh baguette ham or cheese sandwich with salad from the garden; fresh fruit and a hard boiled egg; crisps; home-made cake or biscuits; and a thermos with tea, herbal tea, or coffee. If you’re planning a lazy afternoon, we can include a bottle of wine, corkscrew and optional ice pack.

Picnic 15€ per person (house wine 12€ extra) - 24 hours notice required

Scrumptious tea & cake (summer only)

Sit down to a slice of cake and a lovely cup of tea, either in the garden, or in front of the fire in the sitting room. Baking is Sam's speciality, so you can expect a thick slab of cake or mouthwatering biscuits. To wash it down, take your pick from a choice of tea, organic herbal teas or coffee.

Afternoon cake or biscuits with hot drink 7€ per person

Delicious evening meals

Five evenings a week (six in winter), we prepare a home-cooked three course dinner, with wine included. Before your meal in summer, we serve nibbles and aperitifs in front of the fire or outside on the terrace if the weather is fine. Following supper, we serve coffee, tea or herbal tea in front of the fire in the living room. Dinner can be booked before your arrival, or at breakfast on the day subject to availability.

We use organic and / or locally sourced meat and dairy products where possible, and support artisan producers when we can. Our French and Spanish house wines come from small traditional producers, and the Spanish wine is made with organic grapes. We also stock a small selection of unusual local wines if you want to try something different (ask to see the wine list).

Examples of the three-course set menu, served family-style around the large dining room table, include dishes such as spinach and pea gnocchi with burnt butter sauce; home grown butternut squash soup; local lamb slowly roasted with herbs, root vegetables and wine; wild mushroom, rabbit and sweet potato risotto; tartiflette with organic bacon and farmhouse reblouchon cheese. For pudding, try sticky toffee pudding and caramel sauce; home made fromage blanc and ginger ice cream with brandy snaps; or a selection of local cheeses.

Dinner: 25€ (3 courses) / 35€ (3 courses + wine and hot drinks) - 24 hours notice required

*Please note, most of our organic dairy products are from the local supermarket as we've not yet been able to identify an organic dairy in the Tarentaise. If you know of one, please tell us! Due to the limited range of organic yogurts available, we also put out non-organic options.
